Bernie Sanders has just released a campaign video that directly targets Greenville.
In the video, which features a banner reading “THIS IS WHAT GENTRIFICATION LOOKS LIKE,” Sanders paints the city as a poster child for gentrification.
The video focuses specifically on the black community being uprooted due to Gentrification, which follows the city’s economic boom over the past few decades.
Accompanying the video Sanders tweeted, “In Greenville, South Carolina, and cities all over the country, people can no longer afford to live in the communities where they were born and raised, created memories and built families. We will attack the problem of gentrification and rising rents in America.”
Sanders suggested a housing trust fund in the video, although the city has already established such a fund.
