The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been fired after being arrested by the Travelers Rest Police Department.
In a press release, the GCSO wrote, "Yesterday evening, the Travelers Rest Police Department brought to our attention that one of our deputies, Michael Valdario, was involved in a domestic dispute. The incident occurred in TRPD’s jurisdiction and ultimately led to their agency charging the Valdario with Domestic Violence. Upon learning the facts of the incident, our Office of Professional Standards conducted an internal investigation and the Sheriff has since terminated Valdario’s employment with the Sheriff’s Office."
A copy of the warrant for the 29 year old Valdario's arrest says that on Wednesday night, the deputy hit his 33 year old wife in the mouth with his elbow, causing her to fall and strike her face on a wooden bed. The warrant, which was obtained by 106.3 WORD News also says that Valdario then took the victim's phone and refused to let her leave the residence. Two minor children were present when this incident allegedly occurred.
The release, from GCSO's Lt. Ryan Flood, continued. "As an agency, we are disheartened by these allegations, which violate the strict standards set forth in the Sheriff’s Office policy and code of ethics and our thoughts and prayers are will all parties involved. Any further questions pertaining to the incident will be deferred to the Travelers Rest Police Department."
