Not your traditional Independence Day celebration! That's the way Greer's City Administrator describes Freedom Blast, the annual festival the city celebrates. The festival is marking its 11th year.
This year, Freedom Blast, which happens on Saturday, June 29th at Greer City Park, will be sticking with to a familiar: great music, exciting fireworks, and a touching tribute to our military and veterans.
“We’re often asked why the City of Greer holds its Fourth of July festival in late June,” Greer City Administrator Ed Driggers said. “The simple answer is that Freedom Blast isn’t a traditional Independence Day celebration. It certainly has many of the fun elements of those events, but our primary goal is to recognize the men and women who have made and continue to make possible the freedoms we enjoy today. I can’t think of a better way to usher in upstate Independence Day celebrations the following week. We’re very pleased that Freedom Blast has become an annual tradition for many families from across the Carolinas and Georgia.”
The event is free. Complete information is available at www.freedomblast.org
