Greer Police issued the following press release Saturday evening:
The Greer Police Department responded to a traffic collision at 3:25 pm that was located on Brushy Creek Rd. near the intersection of Henderson Gap Road.
Upon arrival officers located a 2010 Kia Forte and a 1998 Toyota 4Runner that were involved in the collision. The Kia Forte made a left turn from Henderson Gap Road onto Brushy Creek Road pulling into the path of the Toyota 4Runner.
The Toyota 4Runner struck the driver side of the Kia and then flipped over onto its side. Two of the four occupants in the Kia Forte were transported to the emergency room where the driver of the Kia later passed away.
The driver of the Toyota 4Runner was also transported to the emergency room for treatment. This traffic collision remains under investigation by the Greer Police Department’s Traffic Team.
The Greenville County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as Lynwood C. Simonds, 78 of Greer. Simmonds died of his injuries in the Emergecny Room just before 5PM. an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
