The Mauldin Fire Department as well as Piedmont Natural Gas crews are responding to a gas leak at the 200 block of Corn Road in Mauldin.

Dispatchers were told a construction worker ruptured a natural gas pipeline.  Corn Road has been temporarily closed to traffic.  Drivers are asked to avoid the area.

Greenville County School District Spokesperson Beth Brotherton in an email to 1063WORD, said as a precaution about 50 students scheduled to be in the Mauldin High Annex for class this morning have been relocated to other areas of the school.  MHS is continuing to run classes as normally as possible and will re-populate the annex as soon as the fire department gives the all clear.
