Greenville based Michelin North America has announced the appointment of a new chairman and president.

Image: Michelin Alexis Garcin, who has been with the company for 17 years, will take on the new role. He will be responsible for sales, marketing, quality, technical development and supply chain units for both the United States and Canada. Most recently, Garcin was senior vice president of Michelin's global long-distance transportation business. He will be moving to the Upstate from France.
Michelin North America operates 10 plants around the Palmetto State and employes some 20,000 workers with about 8,500 here in South Carolina.
