Another expected spike in COVID-19 cases was reported from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental control Friday afternoon.
Forty-four new cases were reported in the state just after 4 p.m. Friday afternoon, bringing the total reported cases in the state up to 125.
This report has followed the trend of an increased number of positive cases being reported every day for the past several days, likely due to the now more widespread availability of testing.
Greenville now has twelve confirmed cases, and neighboring counties Anderson and Spartanburg each have six and one case reported respectively.
While Kershaw county still holds the highest number of confirmed cases at 36, it no longer contains the majority of the state’s cases.
Kershaw (36), Richland (22) and Greenville (12) counties combined, however, do hold just over half of the state’s cases, with the remaining cases spread throughout the state in various different counties.
There is still only a single death reported from the virus in the state.
