There's a downtrend in South Carolina's unemployment rate for the first time since the pandemic's economic fallout hit the state in March.

Department of Employment and Workforce officials report just over 73,000 new claims filed last week, 14,500 fewer than the week before.

It's Greenville County still tops the list with the most new jobless benefit claims at 8,894, but that's also down from more than ten thousand the week before.
