City Council to hold a special meeting...

A special meeting is planned for Wednesday (1/22/20) at 5:30pm, Greenville City Council members will weigh the rezoning application for the redevelopment of County Square.

According to a press release, City Manager, John McDonough says  "This Ordinance would amend the Haynie-Sirrine Planned Development and zoning district to facilitate the proposed redevelopment of the County-owned properties primarily situated along University Ridge, Howe Street, and South Church Street."

City Council has already approved conceptual plans for the new County Square building and proposed traffic flow improvements that will be phased in during redevelopment.

The City is expected to make a final rezoning decision some time in February.

Currently plans are to raze the now standing County Square buildings in order to construct a new one in addition to adding retail space and high rises.

Greenville City Leaders are inviting the public to share their opinion with a meeting tonight (Wednesday) at 5:30pm in the Greenville Water Community Room on Washington Street in downtown Greenville.

The City expects to make a final rezoning decision some time in February.
