
Troopers are investigating a deadly crash in Newberry County.
Shortly after 11:00pm Wednesday night, a bicyclist traveling west on Highway 76 in was struck from behind by a Nissan Altima.
Master Trooper Brandon Bolt with the SC Highway Patrol reports the driver of the Nissan left the scene after hitting the bicyclist. The year and color of that Altima is unknown.
The collision happened near the intersection of Highway 76 and Colony Church Road, and caused the rider to be ejected from the bike.
Bolt says the bicyclist was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.
The Highway Patrol Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating.
