As of Friday morning, 2/21/20, the Anderson Joint Regional Water System has lifted the boil water advisory for Williamston and the Big Creek water districts.

All water is safe to drink according to AJRS's Facebook Page.

A boil water advisory is in effect for Williamston and the Big Creek Water District residents.

According to Operations Manager Bryan Bates, with Anderson Regional Joint Water System, the advisory was issued Wednesday night at 5:30 due to a water main break.

"The line break occurred in the east side of the transmission main system.  That leak has been repaired with extensive flushing occurring.  And samples have been collected for the regulation to make sure the water is safe for human consumption.  There is a minimum 24 hour incubation time where those samples are collected and analyzed."  (Recording from Bates at ARJWS)

While the Joint Water System awaits those results, Bates says all affected residents must still continue to vigorously boil water for at least one minute before drinking until the advisory is lifted.
