A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division responded to the incident location the morning of February 24th at the request of an investigator due to previous burglaries at the property location.  Upon arrival, the deputy noticed damage to a door at a part of the building.  The deputy, along with an officer from the Westminster Police Department, did a security sweep of the building.
Evidence was gathered by officers and further investigation revealed items that had been taken from the building and the property.
Based upon evidence gathered as a result of the investigation, it was determined that Ballard had made entry into the building, caused damage to the building, stole non-ferrous metals and an electronic item from the incident location.
Investigators initially charged Ballard with one count each of Second Degree Burglary, Malicious Injury to Property, Grand Larceny and Petit Larceny.  However, as the investigation progressed and based upon additional evidence gathered in the burglary investigation at the old Dunlop plant, investigators obtained three additional arrest warrants last Friday charging Ballard additionally with one count each of Second Degree Burglary, Grand Larceny and Malicious Injury to Property.  According to the additional arrest warrants obtained, Ballard is accused of making entry into the building, caused damage to the building and stole non-ferrous metals and electrical conduit.
Ballard is the fourth subject arrested by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office related to the burglary investigation at the old Dunlop plant.
At this time, Ballard remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center on a combined $100,000.
