Gibbs Cancer Center & Research Institute at Pelham hosted a ribbon cutting today for its new 191,000 square foot expansion.
Multiple oncology services will be provided, including other crucial aspects of recovery such as rehabilitation and medicines through an on site pharmacy.
Dr. Tondre Buck, a hematologist/oncologist at Gibbs, said the center was designed to let different departments work together to tackle each patient's case individually.
Jimmy Gibbs, president of Gibbs International and namesake of the center, has high hopes for its future, saying it will one day be world-renowned.

Overview: Gibbs Cancer Center & Research Institute at Pelham extends the reach of cancer care into one of the fastest growing areas in the Upstate, allowing more patients access to critical treatment options in a convenient location off Interstate 85 near the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport. Construction on the expansion began in 2018 and the first patient will be seen in March 2020.
The center will see its first patient this month.
