Clean up continues in the Seneca area following Monday morning's tornado.

Captain Scott Smith with Oconee County Emergency Services said local fire departments and emergency services first focused on clearing the roads before focusing their attention on the damage in the city of Seneca.

Smith said they are now dealing with downed telephone lines and debris removal.

Volunteers with the Walhalla Community Emergency Response team are manning telephone lines to help address any concerns and questions residents may have.

Smith also said they are taking calls from volunteer organizations to coordinate them to the command post in Seneca.

"Unfortunately as much as the Seneca area appreciates everybody who has wanted to turn out and volunteer, they are trying to gather as large community groups... They're not letting in individual people with a chainsaw wanting to help cut up trees.  They need to be part of a larger organization so they can have some kind of credentialing," Smith said.

A donation site is set up at Oconee Federal Savings and Loan.

Monetary donations can be dropped off at City Hall or the Oconee Federal Savings and Loan window.

Checks should be made out to the Seneca Tornado Relief Fund.
