Many organizations have stepped up to do what they can amidst the COVID-19 crisis to provide the needs for those who are experiencing the worst of it.
Prisma Health Upstate is committed to the health and well-being of the communities it serves and by way of providing the Greenville Health Authority $4 million in grant assistance each year, Prisma Health continues to strengthen this place we call home.
In a unanimous decision amongst the Greenville Health Authority Board of Trustees, Healthy Greenville grant funds have been provided to 3 non profit organizations to assist in the critical needs that “exist now within the homeless, homebound and food-insecure communities,” said President of GHA, John Mansure.
Miracle Hill Ministries received up to a $100,000 grant to help cover operation costs, including providing shelters for homeless men and woman who have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Monies could also be used for personal protective equipment and nursing assistance.
Meals on Wheels of Greenville received up to a $25,000 grant to support COVID-19 work-around access to healthy food. Service to the elderly and homebound has ramped up during the crisis.
And Food-Share of Greenville, who provides food boxes to needy families in Greenville county, received up to a $25,000 grant from Healthy Greenville, who will “help fund the cost of the food boxes to those impacted by COVID-19 furloughs, layoffs or sickness.
