Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler has released the name of a woman found deceased in a corn field Sunday.

Fowler identified the subject as Alisia Campos Garcia, 37, of 3228 Chesnee Highway, Gaffney.

“Mrs. Garcia’s body was located in a shallow grave in a large field located at the end of Concord Heights  in Gaffney," Fowler said. "The discovery came about 2 p.m. July 19 by sheriff’s deputies who had come to the location in search of a woman who had been reported missing by her children. An autopsy performed on the body today (Tuesday) confirmed Garcia’s death is a homicide. Positive identification was made through clothing the victim was wearing when she disappeared and other information gathered during the investigation.”
