Deadly Collision on 85NB

Passenger dies 3 weeks after 85NB crash at the 57 mile marker

A passenger involved in an accident on 85 north bound three weeks ago, has died.

Trooper Joe Hovis with the South Carolina Highway Patrol reports Lori Harvin, 58 of Lake Lure North Carolina and a passenger were stopped in traffic on 85 NB near the 57 mile marker on May 28th. 

Around 2:06pm, Allan Odom driving a 2003 Jaguar crashed into Harvin from behind. 

Odom was injured and entrapped and had to be mechanically extracted from the vehicle. 

The passenger in Harvin's vehicle, Mark Charles Rhoads, 68, of Lake Lure, NC was also injured. 

Both Odom and Rhoads were taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Friday June 19th around 11:16am, Mark Rhoads died in the hospital from injuries he sustained in the crash.

Allan Odom, 60 of Spartanburg, was charged with "too fast for conditions."

Harvin was not injured.  All involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
