Teen Driver Killed in Head-On Collision - Spartanburg

The South Carolina Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Teams continue to investigate a fatal head-on collision in Spartanburg County Wednesday.

Trooper Joe Hovis with the Highway Patrol reports a BMW was struck head-on when the driver of a Toyota traveling South on Highway 221 near Barnwell Road crossed the center line to the left.

The crash happened around 11:24am Wednesday. 

There were 3 passengers in the Toyota.  A 9 year old, 8 year old and 1 year old.

The driver of the BMW, Randall Joshua Wheeler, was transported to the hospital

The driver of the Toyota had to be mechanically extracted from the vehicle and died at the scene.  The 3 children were all seat belted and transported to the hospital with injuries.

News Outlets report the driver of the Toyota was 18 year old Kurshay Jackson of Moore. 

She was a senior at Spartanburg High School and was supposed to graduate this year. 

The 3 children in the vehicle at the time of the crash were her daughter and two younger siblings.
