The Greenville County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) outlined some of their main focuses at a press conference about their FY 2019 report earlier this week
One aspect posing a particular problem for Greenville County is the marijuana and THC industry.
THC-infused candy is now very popular; Commander Bart McEntire said hundreds of pounds of THC-infused candy come in every week.
The candies are marketed and packaged just like normal candy.
McEntire said they have seen multiple types of candies used for drugs: gummy bears, Starbursts, Nerds Rope, Sourpatch Kids, etc.

Solicitor Walt Wilkins said the high amounts of money in the marijuana industry also causes a lot of crime.
"Drug trafficking constantly causes other crimes to be committed. We have about 16,000 warrants that come into GVL county every single year... Over 80% of those warrants have some nexus to drug trafficking, so drug trafficking breeds the majority of other crimes we prosecute in this county," Solicitor Wilkins said.
