No criminal charges were filed in the sexual misconduct investigation on the campus of Furman University.
Furman police contacted the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) in October of last year and asked for their assistance in an investigation.
An incident was reported of possible sexual assault on the university's campus.
In a press release, the SC Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor's Office said the multi-month investigation by SLED found the sexual activity in question was consensual.
SLED interviewed multiple witnesses and viewed cellphone video footage of the sexual activity that was captured, and the interviews confirmed the consensual nature of the interaction.
In the press release, the solicitor's office stated that they determined "the evidence in this case does not support a criminal charge of either sexual assault of voyeurism that could be proven beyond a reasonable doubt."
