The Anderson County Police Department is investigating the senseless loss of life of a 16 year old girl after a graduation party at an Anderson motel.
The Coroner's Office says Lashanti Aayania Hester was shot in the head around 2:00am Friday morning while driving her vehicle.
The shooting happened at the intersection of East North Avenue and White Hall Road.
Reports say an apparent altercation at the motel graduation party, which continued to a convenience store, led to the shooting.
Hester was transported to AnMed Health Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 2:39am.
The 16 year old's death has been ruled a homicide and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
The Anderson Police Department and the Coroner's Office continue to investigate.
