Greenville Teen Dies in Accident

New details have been released on the death of an Upstate High School student.

On Wednesday morning the Greenville County Coroner confirmed the death of a student who attended Southside High School.

14-year-old Louis Angel Osorio died around 11pm Tuesday night following an accident in Piedmont.

The 9th grader was initially reported to have fallen out of his family’s Suburban while was car was driving down Carly Drive.

The coroner later said that Osorio had been riding on the running board of the car and jumped off, at which point he struck his head. Others in the vehicle had assumed that he had simply jumped off and went home, and didn’t realize he been injured until they returned home to find him unresponsive in the roadway about an hour and a half later.

The cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma to the head.

Grief counselors are at the school to help students handle the tragedy.
