Greenville County's Elections Director thinks the November 3rd voter turnout could reach 80%.
(Roger Davis reports heavy turnout is expected at the polls November 3rd)
In a video conference speech Tuesday, Conway Belangia told Greenville Chamber of Commerce members his office sent out 20,000 mail-in ballots over the weekend, the first of many shipments he expects to make.
They must be received - not just postmarked - received at County Square by 7:00pm on Election Day to be counted.
He also told the chamber audience he has - his words - "maxed out" his budget for hiring poll workers, that many of them will be new to the job since a number of the older, more experienced poll managers are declining to work this year because fo Coronavirus concerns.
He says voters arriving at the polls during peak hours - lunchtime, before and after work can expect a 90 minute wait, but polls will stay open until every voter in line has cast a ballot.
More than 332,000 people are registered to vote in Greenville County.
