Hobart Lewis won the special election for Greenville County Sheriff.
As of 9:35 PM with 152 of 154 precincts reporting, Greenville County Voter Registration reported Republican candidate Hobart Lewis gained 25,509 votes over Democrat Paul Guy's 8,061 votes.
This election fills the role of sheriff through the end of former sheriff Will Lewis' term.
Lewis was found guilty of misconduct of a public officer in October of last year.
To continue as sheriff beyond the end of this term, Lewis will have to run for sheriff again later this year.
