A car chase in Simpsonville leads to two teens charged with attempted murder.
Amidst a string of car break-ins and other burglaries in the City of Simpsonville, Police Officers attempted to pull over a vehicle Sunday as the occupants matched the description of those identified as suspects in the thefts. The driver attempted to run one of the Police vehicles off the roadway at the time of the stop.
A chase ensued. A Police cruiser crashed into a vehicle on East Standing Springs Rd near Neely Ferry Rd. The suspect vehicle got away.
A press release from the City of Simpsonville says the occupants were later apprehended on "Mullinax Drive near Brooks Drive by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from its K-9 unit and Air Support Unit helicopter and the Mauldin Police Department."
Because of their age, the juvenile suspects names will not be released.
Both have been charged with attempted murder, failure to stop for blue lights, reckless driving, possession of stolen property and illegal acts during a state of emergency.
All involved in the collision on East Standing Springs Rd were taken to the hospital and released, including one officer.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating that accident.

Simpsonville, S.C. — Two juveniles have been charged with attempted murder after attempting to run a Simpsonville police vehicle off the roadway on Sunday.
Officers with the Simpsonville Police Department had attempted to stop a vehicle inside Simpsonville city limits.
The vehicle occupants had been identified in a string of automobile break-ins and other thefts in and around the Simpsonville area. The driver attempted to run one of the police vehicles off the roadway when the traffic stop was attempted.
A brief pursuit by Simpsonville officers ensued, and a motor vehicle collision involving a motorist, who was an innocent bystander, and a Simpsonville officer occurred during the pursuit near East Standing Springs and Neely Ferry roads.
All people in the collision were transported to local hospitals, treated and released. The officer was treated for minor injuries. South Carolina Highway Patrol is overseeing the investigation into the collision.
The suspects continued to flee by vehicle and were found on the 800 block of Mullinax Drive near Brooks Drive by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from its K-9 unit and Air Support Unit helicopter and the Mauldin Police Department.
The suspects, whose names will not be released because they are juveniles, are in the custody of the Sheriff’s Office and have been charged with attempted murder, failure to stop for blue lights, reckless driving, possession of stolen property and illegal acts during a state of emergency.
