Through the end of the month, Oconee County Census Workers will be knocking on doors to gather information for the 2020 Census.
Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw reminds citizens to be vigilant when someone knocks on your door.
Field staff Census workers can be identified by a photo identification in addition to the these items: a laptop with a Census Bureau logo, an iPad with a Census Bureau logo, iPhone with a Census Bureau logo and/or a black canvas bag with a Census Bureau logo.
Sheriff Crenshaw says "The more participation [and data collected] by our citizens means the possibility of more federal money in Oconee County, including money that could be used for law enforcement operations that would be of a benefit to all of our citizens.”
Anyone with questions can contact the Oconee County Sheriff's Office at 864-638-4111.
