
Will Lewis has been moved to North Carolina.
According to the South Carolina Department of Corrections, former sheriff Will Lewis has been transferred to a prison in North Carolina for his safety.
After having been convicted of misconduct of a public officer, Lewis was taken to Kirkland Correctional Institution in Columbia on October 25th.
No word yet on when Lewis was moved to North Carolina or what prison he was taken to.
Lewis was sentenced to the maximum of one year behind bars.
Sheriff Johnny Mack Brown is serving as interim sheriff.
The primary election to fill the office of sheriff will be held in January and the special election will follow in March.
