Jim Agnew, CEO of Greenville Memorial Hospital, reported some of Prisma Health's staistics.
"To date, Prisma Health has completed over 120,000 telehealth visits and approximately 15,000 COVID-19 tests," Mr. Agnew said.
Of that 15,000, approximately half of those were completed through the free drive throughs.
Dr. Eric Ossmann with Prisma Health discussed ways they are approaching disparities with the Upstate community.
"One issue that I think we've all seen including our colleagues at Bon Secours is that there clearly are portions of our population that have not been reached as far as testing and evaluation for COVID-19," Dr. Ossman said.
Dr. Brannon Traxler with DHEC shed some light on the data behind those disparities.
Dr. Ossmann reports that to remedy the racial disparities with COVID-19 there is a new program to begin mobile testing this Saturday at the Augusta Heights Church.
Community testing will continue on multiple days at multiple locations around the Upstate.
Stacey Mills, Executive Director of USC Upstate’s Greenville Campus and Senior Minister with Mountain View Baptist Church, encouraged his community to take advantage of the community testing.
He also called on the public to continue to stay home.
Rossy Bedoya, a community advocate, also encouraged her community to utilize community testing and call upon the United Way for assistance.
