Greenville County Animal Care received a $100,000 grant investment this morning as a Valentine's surprise from the Petco Foundation.
Bobs from Skechers and MUTTS also gave to the celebration: toys for the animals and free animal-themed shoes for all the staff members.

According to the release, Petco Foundation is commiting over $10 million in grant investments to the most effective lifesaving animal welfare organizations in the United States.
GCAC is one of those effective organizations, having recently announced their no-kill status.
Shelly Simmons, the Division Manager for GCAC, explained no-kill status meanings saving more than 90% of the animals.
The path to reaching no-kill status wasn't easy.
"Greenville County is constantly growing so it takes time to really combat that. It's taken years for us to really get a hold of the pet overpopulation problem here in Greenville County," Simmons said.

Simmons said reaching no-kill status is a team effort, not only within GCAC but also in the community.
"We need everybody in our community to help us build and sustain that no-kill community and this is what that money is going to be put to use for," Simmons said.
