Man Shot in the Face - Arrest Made

An arrest has been made in the May 10th shooting at the Prince Hall Apartments in Spartanburg.

Major Art Littlejohn with the Spartanburg Police Department reported Investigators were able to identify 25 year old Jamal Rios in the shooting of Antonio Franks.

Franks was shot one time in the face around 11:30pm Sunday night.  

May 12th Rios was identified as their suspect.  On Wednesday, Officers, with the assistance of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, located Rios at Cotton Ridge Lane around 10am.

A short foot chase ensued before he was taken into custody.

Jamal Rios is charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

He is being held in the Spartanburg County Detention Center.

(Spartanburg PD) On Tuesday, May 12, 2020, investigators with the Spartanburg Police Department were able to identify and sign warrants for the arrest of Jamal Rios, [DOB and address deleted], in Spartanburg. 

On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, around 10:00 a.m., Rios was located and arrested, in partnership with Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office on Cotton Ridge Lane in Spartanburg.

There was a brief foot chase, however Rios was captured very quickly.

Jamal Rios has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of weapon during a violent crime, for shooting the victim Antonio Franks on May 10, 2020. 

 

 

5/11/20 - One man shot in the face... no suspects identified.

Major Art Littlejohn with the Spartanburg Police Department reported a shooting at the Prince Hall Apartments Sunday night around 11:30pm.

Antonio Franks, the victim, was shot in the face one time by an unknown suspect.

It happened outside near the walkway in front of Building 4.

A neighbor drove Franks to the hospital prior to Officers arriving.  A second team of Officers went to the hospital to gather information from Franks and other possible witnesses.

No one was able to identify a suspect, but, it was reported a white Nissan was seen speeding away shortly after the shooting on Prince Hall Lane.  

Major Art Littlejohn said this is an active and ongoing investigation.
