A sad discovery made by police Thursday afternoon in the search for missing six-year-old Faye Swetlik.

Police said at a news conference just after 2 p.m. Thursday that the girl was found dead.

Byron Snellgrove, the Cayce Public Safety Director, said the death was ruled a homicide.

He also said the body of a dead man was found in the Churchill Heights neighborhood, which is where the girl first went missing.

An investigation into this death has begun, but no other information was released about this. It's unknown if the two deaths are connected.

The young girl first went missing from her front yard Monday afternoon, which prompted a massive search the included a hundred law enforcement officers through the week. This included officers from both the state and federal levels.
