Gov. Henry McMaster at Press Conference
SCETV

Governor McMaster opened a press conference Tuesday afternoon by urging South Carolinians to wear masks and practice social distancing in public to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

He said he has been very disappointed in a large portion of the public’s lack of compliance with the DHEC health and safety recommendations.

As such, in order to help prevent the spread, the Governor announced the ‘Palmetto Priority’ seal as a new safety initiative for restaurants.

The program comes from a partnership with the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association, DHEC, and other groups and was compared by McMaster to the Greater Greenville Pledge.

With the program, restaurants can receive a sign to place at the front of their business that signifies to customers that they are following coronavirus safety guidelines such as masks, social distancing, and proper sanitation.

“If you go to a restaurant and it doesn’t have this seal, go somewhere else,” McMaster said.

Restaurants will be able to apply for the seal online, and they can receive it after meeting the requirements and passing an inspection.
