Official News Release from the Oconee County Sheriff's Office:
(Seneca, SC) During a time period covering approximately 24 hours of work on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office P.A.C.E. (Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement) team along with two road patrol deputies, one Oconee County Sheriff’s Office reserve deputy and three South Carolina State Constables conducted three traffic safety checkpoints in the county.
Two of the checkpoints occurred in the Westminster area, with one taking place at Mountain Road at Clearmont Road and the other at Toccoa Highway at Hobson Street.
The third checkpoint occurred near Seneca at Shiloh Road at JP Stevens Road.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is releasing these statistics by categories related to citations and/or charges filed as a result of the traffic safety checkpoint enforcement:
DUI: 1
Driving under Suspension: 5
Open Container Violations: 3
Driver License Violations: 1
Seat Belt Violations: 1
Child Restraint Violations: 4
Misdemeanor Drug Charges: 9
Felony Drugs: 3
Vehicle Violations: 2
Reckless Driving: 2
Fugitive Apprehended: 2
Minors in Possession of Alcohol: 5
Miscellaneous or Other Violations: 7
As a result of the traffic safety checkpoint enforcement, the following individuals were arrested:
21 year old Austin Bradley Nichols
Seneca, SC
One count of Driving under the Influence
One count of Open Container in a Vehicle
Nichols was arrested on January 1st, 2020 at checkpoint location on Shiloh Road at JP Stevens Road and released on January 1st on a $992.00 personal recognizance bond
25 year old Zachary David Fields
Westminster, SC
One Count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine
One Count of Driving under Suspension (Outstanding Warrant)
Fields was arrested on January 1st, 2020 at checkpoint location on Shiloh Road at JP Stevens Road
At this time, Fields remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center on a $52,100.00 surety bond
19 year old Tarran Shane Boggs
West Union, SC
One Count of Simple Possession of Marijuana
One Count of Possession of Methamphetamine
One Count of Furnishing or Attempting to Furnish Contraband into a Detention Center
Boggs was arrested January 1st, 2020 at checkpoint location on Shiloh Road at JP Stevens Road
Boggs was released from the Detention Center on January 1st, 2020 on a combined $15,615.00 personal recognizance bond
51 year old Kevin Lane Campbell
Seneca, SC
One outstanding Magistrate’s Bench Warrant – Driving under Suspension
Campbell was also issued a citation for Driving under Suspension – 3rd Offense
Campbell was arrested on January 1st, 2020 at the checkpoint location on Shiloh Road at JP Steven Road
Campbell was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on January 1st and remains in custody at this time
