The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Westminster man and woman with one count each of Homicide by Child Abuse.
30 year old Ronnie Glenn Christen has been incarcerated in the Oconee County Detention Center since October 10th of last year on a charge of Unlawful Neglect of a Child related to the same investigation.
22 year old Molly Morgan Spivey was also arrested on October 10th of last year on a charge of Unlawful Neglect of a Child, according to investigators.
After posting bond and being released from the Detention Center, Spivey was arrested yesterday and booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 6:14pm.
The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation back on October 1st last year after responding to a call of a child in cardiac arrest. The investigation was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.
Based upon initial evidence that was gathered in the investigation, both Christen and Spivey were charged in October of last year with the Unlawful Neglect.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office continued their investigation in cooperation with the Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
Due to additional evidence and information gathered, investigators were able to obtain the additional arrest warrants against Spivey and Christen for Homicide by Child Abuse which is in addition to the original Unlawful Neglect charges against both subjects originally filed.
According to arrest warrants, the cause of death for the child was blunt force head trauma.
At this time, both Christen and Spivey remain in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center.
Spivey was denied bond on the Homicide by Child Abuse charges and she is scheduled to appear before a Circuit Court Judge in regards to her bond.
