The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is announcing today the completion of the second annual Girls Empowerment Summer Camp.
The camp, which consisted of 12 students, concluded with an award’s ceremony at the Walhalla Middle School Auditorium yesterday afternoon.
The graduates received a challenge coin, a certificate and a medal. Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw and Blair Stoudemire from the 10th Circuit Solicitor’s Office addressed the graduates and their families during the award’s ceremony.
The following is a list of activities that involved the student’s, officials from the School District and School Resource Officers from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office:
Monday: karaoke, string art and a guest speaker
Tuesday: High Falls County Park (the girls learned about etiquette and wild animals, fishing and swimming among other activities)
Wednesday: zip lining at Wild Water in Longcreek and team building exercises, the award’s ceremony
“The Sheriff’s Office utilizes the entire school year to foster better relationships with our students,” says Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw. “This summer camp for girls is an opportunity for our female employees and citizen volunteers to mentor girls about the decisions they make in life.
