What started from a desire to provide hand sanitizer to their families during shortages caused by COVID-19 has led to Palmetto Distillery providing gallons of sanitizer to families, businesses, and corporations around the upstate.
“We’ve got orders coming from huge retailers to whether it’s small mom and pops,” Boggs said. “But again it doesn’t matter if it’s one gallon going out the door to help a family. Everybody’s in the same boat, and we’re truly all in this together.”
Production of hand sanitizer at Palmetto Distillery began around the end of March, and a dozen more employees have been hired to help meet production demands.
And while production of moonshine and whiskey has been halted, they produced an overflow before the shift and are continuing to sell it in addition to the gallons of sanitizer they are now producing.
Palmetto Distillery is providing hand sanitizer to individual families, US federal, state, and local governments, Coke, BMW, Michelin Tire and more.
Prisma Health released a press release Friday afternoon announcing a partnership with Palmetto Distillery delivering over 5,000 gallons of sanitizer for their hospitals.
Boggs said Palmetto Distillery is also working to help other distilleries produce hand sanitizer during this time of high demand.
“We’re of course happy to be very busy just at such a terrible time, but glad to be able to help our friends, families and neighbors all around the state of South Carolina,” Boggs said.
