The votes are in on the second article of impeachment of President Donald Trump in the U.S. Senate.
The final vote was 43 guilty and 57 not guilty as charged.
Both articles have been voted not guilty, and President Donald Trump has been acquitted of impeachment.
"This partisan-driven impeachment has done injury to the office of the presidency and was an injustice to President Trump," SC Senator Lindsey Graham said on twitter. "As I said after the Clinton impeachment trial, the Senate has spoken and the cloud over the presidency has been removed. I meant it then and mean it now."
Senator Graham also expressed expectations for Trump to be "exonerated by the American people" and to win a second term in the November presidential election.
House Representative from South Carolina Jeff Duncan also responded very positively to the acquittal of the president, calling the impeachment trial "the most partisan and disgraceful impeachment in U.S. history!" and stating that, "Impeachment was NEVER about Ukraine. It was NEVER about a wistleblower. It was always about Deomcrats' thirst to regain power at all costs."
Congressman Duncan also tweeted a belief that the "unconstitutional impeachment" came from a fear from the Democratic party to "face [President Trump] at the ballot box - his record and accomplishments are untouchable!"
This was only the third presidential trial in American history and has been very divisive across the country.
Following the trial, President Trump has expressed plans to use the aftermath of the trial as fuel in his bid for re-election in the Presidential race this year.
After the final impeachment vote was announced, Trump tweeted a GIF expressing his desire to remove the presidential term limit and serve multiple future terms in the White House.
