(GREENVILLE) To help ensure that everyone has a safe holiday season, the Greenville Police Department is takingsteps to ease traffic congestion on busy commercial corridors like Woodruff Road and offering tips on ways shopperscan avoid becoming victims.Beginning Black Friday weekend, GPD officers will be monitoring key intersections for traffic concerns andmaintaining high visibility in popular retail districts. Electronic message boards have been placed on Woodruff Road,Verdae Boulevard and Roper Mountain Road to advise drivers to use Parallel Parkway, which runs from VerdaeBoulevard to Woodruff Industrial Lane, to access the Magnolia Park, Target and Academy Sports shopping centers.Additionally, to prevent left turns and cross traffic, water barricades have been placed on Woodruff Industrial Lanenear its intersection with Woodruff Road.Drivers can assist in these efforts by being patient and following all traffic laws. To avoid unnecessary collisions andinjuries: Don’t block intersections Don’t drive aggressively Drive at a safe speed Plan your route before heading to your destination Don’t drive distracted Be patientIn addition to driving safely, it is also important to be cautious and alert while shopping.
