Official Press Release from SCOT below:

Southbound I-85 Lane Closures in Spartanburg County, SC 110 Closure
Monday, March 23, 2020
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has closed the bridge on SC 110 (Battleground Rd) that crosses Interstate 85 near mm 83 today, March 23, 2020, in Spartanburg County.
Crews are currently installing a detour for both lanes of southbound Interstate 85 traffic.
This closure is necessary because an illegal, oversized load struck the bridge earlier today causing significant structural damage that poses a safety threat to motorists on the bridge as well as interstate traffic.
The existing bridge is being evaluated to determine the severity of the damage.
A replacement bridge for SC 110 is currently being constructed under the I-85 Widening Project.
SCDOT and the contractor are currently studying all options in order to expedite the completion of the new bridge.
SCDOT apologizes for having to implement this closure prior to the completion of the new bridge.
Ensuring the safety of the motoring public remains top priority.
Motorists are advised to consider alternate routes and to expect traffic congestion.
SCDOT urges motorists to use caution in the work zone and detour route.  Traffic conditions are available at SCDOT’s 511 information system: www.511sc.org
