A local school bus driver went above and beyond in Spartanburg after a fire broke out on his bus.
School bus driver Jack Smith was driving a bus filled with 24 students when he noticed smoke coming from the dashboard of the bus.
Immediately Smith jumped into action.
He first evacuated the bus and got all the students to safety.
Soon after, the smoke quickly became a full blown fire, but Smith was fast enough to put it out with a fire extinguisher before any serious damage could occur.
Parents were notified and the students, none of whom suffered any injuries, were taken to school on a different bus.
Smith, who’s been working as a school bus driver for three years, is receiving praise from parents and school staff alike for his quick reflexes in handling the situation.
