After a year long investigation, "Operation Repeat Offender" lands two dozen suspects behind bars.
Spartanburg Sheriff Chuck Wright said "enough is enough" Thursday, as 53 suspects face 80 charges in drug offenses.
Of the 53 suspects, 45 are repeat offenders, hence the operations given name. So far, 24 suspects have been arrested.
The investigation took dangerous illegal drugs off the street. During a news conference, Wright said the narcotics included crack cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, mushrooms and cocaine.
Wright said Thursday "We, as a society, are going to have to do a lot better job of either trying to do more to rehabilitate, or put people in jail long enough to make it hurt a little bit, .... something has to be done."
