There we are identified a decedent that had been shot. His name is Devonte M. Thompson, 20 years old, of Spartanburg. Mr. Thompson was pronounced dead at 06:54 this morning.
At autopsy, we discovered a single gunshot wound. The manner of death will be homicide.
Please keep the family of Mr. Thompson in your thoughts and prayers during your time of loss and grief.
SCSO: In conjunction with the Coroner’s Office, our investigation remains active. All involved parties have been located and interviewed, and there isn’t any threat to the public.
Due to the circumstances of this incident, a consultation with the Solicitor’s Office will be necessary, and once that office has had a chance to review the case, then more information will be released.
