A Spartanburg man has been arrested on attempted murder charges following an assault on his girlfriend.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office reports on Tuesday deputies were called to the intersection of Cleveland Chapel Road and Chesnee Highway in reference to an assault.
EMS was already there, attending to a woman going in and out of consciousness and bleeding heavily from her head.
Before being taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, she was able to identify herself and said her boyfriend assaulted her.
A deputy spoke with a witness who had been leaving a friend's house on Larry Drive; while traveling down Cleveland Chapel Rd, she saw a woman covered in blood crawling down the road.
The witness and her daughter stopped to help her, but she had passed out in a ditch; the witness called 911 while her daughter tried to keep her conscious.
According to the report, when she was conscious, the victim kept repeating that her boyfriend Brian Timothy Harris had done this to her.

At the hospital, she told the deputy she did not want anyone to know she was there, fearing her boyfriend would find her and kill her; the report said she was given a trauma name to conceal her identity and ensure her safety.
Deputies report she struggled to stay conscious and spoke "to the best of her ability, taking into consideration the extent of her injuries."
The victim said she and her boyfriend, Harris, had a few drinks around 2 PM, although he had been drinking continuously since the day before and had been verbally and physically abusive while drunk in the past.
After an argument began, Harris then "picked her up by her throat and slammed her into a window, shattering the window" before hitting her face repeatedly.
The victim said the broken window was the first window on the right located at the front of the house; deputies later confirmed that specific window was broken and had already been covered and sealed with a piece of cardboard.
The victim said Harris' mother and niece witnessed the assault.
The niece, who has mental delays, tried to help her but Harris' mother stopped her, saying Harris would "come back for her."
Fearing for her life, the victim then began trying to escape, crawling along the road, only vaguely remembering the strangers who tried to help her.
Deputies went to the house at 401 Larry Drive to find Harris but instead found his mother who was uncooperative.
Deputies further stated she would not disclose Harris' location and was dismissive of the victim's injuries, saying she didn't know why the victim needed to be hospitalized and that she "probably deserved it."
Harris reportedly fled the scene in a 4-door older model black Toyota Corolla with chrome rims and was driving with a suspended license.
According to the police report, the victim suffered extensive injuries to her face and head area, including a fractured left eye socket, shattered left cheekbone, broken nasal septum, laceration to left forehead over her left eye requiring stitches, laceration to mid forehead, two large hematomas to back right and back left side of her head, bruise on her right thigh, superficial cuts to both feet, laceration to left wrist, bruising to left wrist and hand, laceration to inside of top lip, and extensive swelling and bruising to the left side of her face.
Medical personnel report the severity of her injuries will require surgery fix the broken facial bones.
The case was presented to a judge who issued a warrant for attempted murder.
Harris was arrested early this morning and booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
