Spartanburg City Council will determine later this week if the city will enact a "stay-at-home" order due to COVID-19.
According to the City's Twitter Feed, the issue was discussed in Monday night's meeting. Ruth Littlejohn who represents District 3 and Jerome Rice of District 5 "argue that City should wait a few weeks before taking any further action."
Meghan Smith who represents District 1 and Erica Brown of District 6 believe the order should be enacted now.
Council continues to discuss a wide range of options, Spartanburg City Manager Chris Story says a "shelter-in-place" would exempt "Big box stores, grocery stores, [and] many retailers."
The city continues to urge citizens to practice social distancing and stay at home whenever possible.
