Reports of damage caused by storms are coming in from across the Upstate.

Spartanburg 

Released by the Spartanburg Police Department.

A storm came through the City of Spartanburg today, February 6, 2020 around 10:30 a.m., and has caused damage to many trees, powerlines, gas lines, and structures.
Several major roadways are blocked in the City.
The Spartanburg Police Department is encouraging citizens to remain inside their homes until the roadways are clear of powerlines and trees.  
Blocked roadways include the following:

  • Baltimore Street near West Main Street
  • W.O. Ezell and Chestnut (most of W.O. Ezell is blocked)
  • Westover Drive and Gibson
  • Connecticut
  • John B. White and Crescent
  • Pine and Boyd
  • Dover Road
  • Webber Road
  • Greengate and Dupree
  • Franklin Street at under path (water)
  • Beaumont Avenue (water)

This is not a complete listing of all areas impacted by this weather event.

Trees are down in many neighborhoods. Officers are checking damaged homes to ensure no citizens are trapped inside.

I-385 southbound from Laurens Road has only one lane of traffic open due to mud blocking roadway.
Laurens Road is closed from Parkins Mill to Waite.
Westbound lanes of Stone Avenue are closed from I-385 to Hilly Street.
The intersection of Atlas and Henrietta is closed.
South Hudson Street is closed below AJ Whittenberg Elementary and Welborn Street.
Duvall Drive is closed from Parkins Lake to Parkins Mill.
Duvall Drive closed from Parkins Mill Road to Parkins Lake Road.
Parkins Mill, from Mauldin Road to Duvall Drive, is closed. This includes the section that travels underneath State Highway 85.
Cagle Street is closed from Willard Street to Temple Street.
Elmore Street is closed from Willard Street to Temple Street.
Keith Drive, between Pleasantburg Drive and Woodlark Street, is closed due to a sinkhole.
Swamp Rabbit Trail closed from Willard to Hudson streets.
Willard Street, from Mayberry to Cagle streets, is closed.
Meadow Street, from Oscar to Nassau streets, is closed.
