This month the Oconee County Sheriff's Office is bringing help and awareness to domestic violence by partnering with Safe Harbor.
Throughout the month, the Law Enforcement Division is encouraging Oconee residents to donate items to support domestic violence victims.
Items such as soap, hair care, disposable brushes dental hygiene...
Donations can be dropped off at the Sheriff's Office at 300 South Church Street in Walhalla, SC 29691.
Safe Harbor is a non-profit organization that provides shelter and counseling in Oconee, Anderson, Pickens and Greenville counties to those who have been abused.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The U.S. Department of Justice estimates that 1.3 million women and 835,000 men are victims of physical violence by a partner every year.
Domestic Violence is taken very seriously by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, and in support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we are asking for donations that benefit victims of domestic violence in Oconee County.
Safe Harbor is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, which provides safe shelter, counseling and advocacy for victims of domestic violence and provides leadership for education and prevention efforts throughout its four-county service area – Anderson, Greenville, Oconee and Pickens, South Carolina.

All of their services are free of charge, and are funded by the United Way, government grants and contracts, private foundations, and community donations.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is asking for members of the community if they are able to donate toiletry items (soap, shampoo, conditioner, feminine hygiene products, disposable brushes and combs, razors, shaving gel, etc.) laundry detergent, deodorant, and dental hygiene items to our office (located at 300 S. Church Street Walhalla, SC 29691), where there will be a collection bin set up in the lobby.
All of the items collected throughout the month of October will be donated to Safe Harbor of Oconee County to benefit domestic violence victims.
