GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Caroline Thompson is now leading day-to-day operations of The Children’s Museum of the Upstate as its interim executive director.
Thompson has spent the past 21 months as a member of the TCMU board and brings more than 30 years of experience that includes leading teams through transformation as a senior and C-suite executive for global enterprises big and small.
The Museum Board voted to eliminate the position of CEO, most recently held by Hillary Spencer for the past 16 months, in light of the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on the community.
“Caroline Thompson brings a wealth of practical experience as the interim executive director,” said Connie Jones, the board’s chairwoman. “In light of current realities, it is best for the museum to focus on a sustainable future, which limits the talents and contributions initially envisioned through Hillary’s recruitment in 2019.”
TCMU operates locations in Greenville and Spartanburg with a mission to ignite a community of compassionate problem solvers through intentional and inclusive play. Lean more at www.tcmupstate.org.
