Statement from Greer PD:
West Wade Hampton Blvd. between Buncombe Road and West Poinsett Street is expected to be closed until at least mid-morning.
The Greer Police Department responded to a single vehicle traffic collision last night (3/23) at approximately 10 pm. A vehicle travelling southbound on W. Wade Hampton Blvd. near the intersection of West Poinsett Street crossed the centerline of the roadway and struck a telephone pole which in turned caused two more telephone poles to fall. As a result of the poles falling power lines were knocked to the ground completely blocking West Wade Hampton Blvd. in both directions. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene prior to officers arriving on scene and there were no other occupants in the vehicle. There were no injuries that we are aware of. The vehicle was a 2010 Toyota Yaris that was found to be stolen out of Greenville County.
