An Westminster Man is in jail today after he assaulted an 8 year old child.
The Sheriff's Office received a call Tuesday concerning possible abuse when a young boy was discovered to have marks on his face.
The day before he was in the care of Chad Michael-Ray MacDonald. Deputies investigation found MacDonald used excessive force against the side of the 8 year olds head, causing him to be knocked to the ground.
An arrest warrant was issued. Deputies locked up MacDonald Wednesday who is now being held in the Oconee County Detention Center. He is charged with unlawful neglect of a child/helpless person.

Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Westminster Man on Child Abuse Charge
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Chad Michael- Ray Macdonald on an unlawful neglect of a child/helpless person charge.
On October 8th, 2019 Oconee County Sheriff’s Office deputies were informed that an eight year old male had marks on his face which caused suspicion of abuse.
After a thorough investigation, it was discovered that Chad Michael-Ray Macdonald had assaulted an eight year old minor child that was in his care on October 7th, 2019 by using excessive force against the side of the child’s head repeatedly. This force of striking the child caused the child to be knocked to the ground.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Chad Michael- Ray Macdonald and he was placed under arrest and later transported to the Oconee County Detention Center where he is currently being held.
Macdonald has been charged with unlawful neglect of a child/helpless person.
