The Geenville County Coroner's Office issued the following press release Saturday:
Lashonna Bowens was an eight year old female who was an unrestrained passenger in a Dodge pick-up truck that was traveling on South Carolina Highway 418 (from the direction of US Hwy. 25 toward Forks Shoals Road) at approximately 2:21PM on Saturday, April 27, 2019.
Approximately 1/2 mile before the intersection with Forks Shoals Road, the pick-up truck struck a bridge guardrail. The truck overturned one or more times. The decedent was ejected from the vehicle.
Cane Brake Fire Department, South Greenville Fire Department, and Greenville County EMS responded. Miss Bowens was pronounced dead at the scene.
She was a student at Bryson Elementary School. This case is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Greenville County Coroner's Office.
